Many of these rules may operate on a case-by-case basis, however for the most part these rules are to be taken as final
Section 1: Character rules
- When making a character, you need to run it by the moderation team for review
- You may not have a character with magical abilities/powers*, as this is reserved for disciple level characters and up
*Abilities tied to the respective animal your character is, i.e flying, glowing, poison/venom, body part regeneration, do not count as powers. They must however be applicable to the animal you have designed your character to be
- You may not* have an immortal character unless you are a disciple level or above
*There may be plot reasons for certain characters to be given immortality, however it is incredibly rare and operates based on necessity
- You can have more than 1 character, however only make more characters if you have actual reason to do so (i.e plot reason/necessity), do not make characters simply for the sake of having them
- IF your character has powers, they may not be as or more powerful than the bishop/god they answer to
- Your character may be associated with another cult that you yourself are not in, however you need to consult the corresponding bishop
- Before writing your character to be involved with any other persons character, you must properly consult the respective owner first
- Mutant characters are allowed, however you need to consult Wolsal before you make any in order to ensure proper adherence to the rules
Section 2: Writing and lore
- Anyone may create an Alternate Universe so long as it follows server rules
- Alternate Universes of Divine Mortals are considered non-canonical* and thus are not beholden to many of the rules. Rules about anything regarding something that involves characters that do not belong to you do still apply
*Divine Mortals AU Swap (DMAUS) is considered an extension of canon and thus is still confined to all stated rules
- Anyone may write fanfiction for DMAU, however if it includes other peoples characters you must ask first
- If you decide to publish any fanfiction for DMAU, you must make it clear that it is made for Divine Mortals. You must also ask any involved persons before publishing. It also must follow all stated rules if it is to be taken as canon
- DM @ghostofa_spacenerd on discord to have your fanfiction added to the ao3 collection for DMAU
- You own what lore you write, if you wrote it, you own it. If you co-wrote it, you co-own it. For this reason DMAU belongs to no single person.
- If ever you are unsure of certain plot-points or lore pieces, you are always welcome to ask
- You may write about topics such as self harm*, suicide*, disability, and mental illness, however you are required to be respectful and do your proper research into any topics you write about
*For self harm and suicide, you need to give content warnings and properly spoiler images/messages if you discuss it
Section 3: Collaborating and participation
- You may only participate if you are capable of working harmoniously and peacefully with other participants
- Do not complain about other peoples work/stories, be respectful and kind
- Do not critique other peoples work/stories without consent
- Anyone may make a lore hunt/host a lore event, however you must consult the moderation team for approval first. You may open a ticket in order to do so
- Do not attempt to be controlling of other peoples work
- Do not attempt to take over/heavily influence someone else’s story with your own
- Do not insist on receiving a role or title
Disclaimer: These are not an exhaustive rule list- these are simply rules that interested people may see in order to better understand Divine Mortals. There are many more rules that were excluded from here. That being said many of the rules are for discord specific aspects and would require the full context. The full exhaustive rules list can be seen in the Lamberica discord server.
